The Master’s Degree in criminal law prepares students to be quality and distinguished criminal lawyers so that, upon graduation, they can implement the theoretical knowledge acquired during the program to face the challenges of the new Accusatory and Oral Criminal Procedure System model.
Who should pursue this degree?
Professionals in Criminal Law who seek to better understand the reforms to the applicable legal framework and their effects on the Accusatory and Oral Criminal Procedure System so they can better adapt and incorporate those procedures. Criminal lawyers with academic degrees put into practice the knowledge acquired through the Master’s program before ministerial and judicial authorities and use their analytical abilities to enrich the institutions that make up the prosecution and justice system in our country or in the free exercise of the profession.
Students who graduate with a Master’s Degree in Criminal Law will have the theoretical and practical knowledge to show their aptitude, preparation, capacity, training and competence to deftly develop solid Case Theory according to the best interests of the different procedural agents by imputing or defending, interrogating and arguing. All of this is based on the available background of each case, the ability to adapt the facts in the context of criminal law by identifying the existence of crimes and the likelihood (or not) that the accused participated in those crimes, as well as verbally presenting the case in an appropriate manner throughout each of the stages of the criminal procedure and, when appropriate, successfully intervening as an authority or through one’s private practice in various Oral Hearings held through the National Code of Criminal Procedures. The aim is to make the judge aware of the veracity and legality of the arguments to obtain a favorable judgment and eventually use the legal remedies available to receive a favorable judgment from the higher courts or opt for an alternative solution. All of this is achieved by working within the framework of the principles and rights enshrined in the Political Constitution of the United States of Mexico and in the International Treaties to which the Mexican State is a party.
